Password AppServer V2.0Ci1 for Windows 3.1 09-24-97 _________________________ Create a directory named "\ascend" and copy the file "appsrv31.exe" to this directory. Copy "ctl3dv2.dll" file to Windows "system" directory. Configure your Pipeline with: Password Server=Yes Password Host=nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn Password Port=7001 where nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address of the windows machine. Run "\ascend\appsrv31" on the windows machine. We recommend adding the program to the startup group (provided that the network, including WINSOCK, is started as part of normal system startup. Release v2.0 incroporates a new feature to support multiple users using the same Pipeline to access a server. The change includes addition of a UserName prompt (optional) that will be appended to the password. See Implementation Specification for additional details. An additional feature of this release is that the connection profile name and the optional user name are saved in a file. This allows the server to be stopped, restarted, and even have the system rebooted without the need for either value to be reentered unless it is desired to change them. In both cases, the previous value will be displayed as the default value in all appropriate prompts. Note: This version could be used in conjunction with its DOS companion software "appsrvDS.exe". See README notes for instructions as to how to run that package. There is a new 32-bit version of the AppServer implemented for Windows 95. Please see its documentation for details. To use BANNER, create an ASCII file (using any text editor) and enter the following text: [BANNER] line1=Begin entering data line2=on these line. Any text entered here will be displayed when line3=password prompt is displayed. There could be upto 5 lines. line4=The "linex=" will not be displayed. line5=You may leave any line blank or type less than 5 lines. Please notice the software version number on the main screen title bar. Use this number for all correspondence. Currently the text limit is set to 200 characters (excluding [BANNER], and "linex=" characters).
