Software Description In order to ensure that we are able to provide you with the latest available software, the latest version of the AP software may be downloaded from our website by initially visiting http://support.proxim.com/ 4.1 Software The Public Access Wireless AP software is packaged as a web release. This release when unzipped comprises of: * AP2500-R2.1.0B534.bin * Readme file * MIB.zip * Help and User Guide.zip The Help and User Guide.zip comprises of the following files/folders when installed: **HTML folder - Help Documentation files **PDF folder - User Guide and Firmware Upgrade procedure files **Scantool.exe - The Scan & Change utility that can be used to discover and initialize the Public Access Wireless AP (see Installation Notes). **SSL_KEY_FOLDER - In the SSL_KEY folder we include a copy of the cacert.pem certificate which, in some cases, may need to be uploaded to the AP in order to enable SSL. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Installation Notes NOTE: If you are upgrading from a 1.x release, Please refer to "AP-2500 Release 2.1 Firmware upgrade procedure" pdf file available on the \Program Files\ORiNOCO\Public Access Wireless AP\PDF folder or from Proxim technical support web site. The Help and User Guide zip file when extracted contains a setup.exe file. Please run setup.exe in order to use the help documentation. The install wizard will guide you through the installation. 5.1 System Requirements You must have an Public Access Wireless AP and Wireless PC card that is compatible with the AP and a PC to install and manage the AP. To view the help files, your browser must have either javascript enabled or java enabled. If both are disabled you will not be able to view the help files. Javascript is enabled by default in IE and Netscape ------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. Known Issues The explore button in the Monitor->Linktest page of the HTTP interface doesn't show the status of linktest progress. Workaround is to wait 10 seconds after clicking the 'Explore' button and then click on 'refresh' button to display the test results (16204) Due to the change of the ICC from Java to HTML and JavaScript, the images.zip file is no longer valid. If you are currently using the images in the ICC, you will need to rename the files to the 8.3 format and TFTP them into the AP-2500 as a generic file type. In the WMI->PublicSpace->ICC Setup page, update the ICC images’ file names. Reboot for changes to take effect. After upgrading the firmware, you may be required to re-enable passthrough addresses. If you manage the AP-2500 units via an SNMP manager, you must use the new MIB files provided in the Release 2.1 package after the firmware upgrade. Due to the new functionalities and features, the MIB files provided in Release 2.1 are not backward compatible. If syslog is enabled, syslog heartbeat also enabled automatically and will send heartbeat messages every 60secs. SSL: In some cases, after following the procedure detailed in the user guide to activate SSL, the "Enable SSL" setting will be disabled and the checkbox will be cleared. If this happens, download the file "cacert.pem" (located in the \SSL_KEY directory on the CD image, and the \Program Files\ORiNOCO\Public Access Wireless AP\SSL_KEY directory if you have run the Setup program) using the procedure that is described in the section "Enabling SSL on the AP-2500" of the AP-2500 user guide. (This is the same procedure that is used to download the "cakey.pem" and "server.pem" files.) When a client launches the web browser and the first web page visited is an https (secure) website, the browser will not be redirected to the main login page.
