| What is ModemScan? |
| |
| ModemScan is a, GUI based, software program which audits remote access |
| modems, and is otherwise known as a wardialer. |
| |
| Why does your organization need ModemScan? |
| |
| Typically, remote access into most organizations' information systems is |
| through ordinary phone lines. Hackers use software tools to locate these |
| phone lines. They usually target all the phone numbers owned by a local |
| company or organization. After systematically dialing all or some phone |
| numbers, a.k.a. wardialing, they extract numbers which returned info |
| about the remote systems "running" in the targeted organization. |
| This first line of information, known as the "banner", is then used to |
| try default or weak passwords for that specific system. Following this |
| simple process usually allows unauthorized access into the target's |
| information systems or other non-IT systems. |

| What can a company do to protect its Information System resources? |
| |
| Periodic and systematic auditing of all phone lines is the current |
| methodology used by most Information System Security Organizations and |
| external auditors. ModemScan can facilitate this process and provide |
| reports of all modems which responded and the type of response. |
| |

| This nice application was protected by the commercial protection scheme |
| "Modern Trial-X 2.5 Trial DLL". |
| |
| Trial-X, is hard, very hard, its using fractional encryption, |
| but as always, if you cant get in through the door, you just |
| make a hole in the wall, infact after many hours debugging i found |
| that i could remove both the "Serial Entry NagScreen", "Serial |
| Validation", "Program Expiry" and "20 Calls Limit" Trial-X limits, |
| with just five 5 bytes placed at just the right places ;) |

| cracked! ... And you know it! |

| And the worst part about trial-x ? it can be disabled right in the |
| main exe file using the trial-x dll / or functions... BAD BAD! |

| INSTALLATION AND REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS: |

| Unzip, unrar and Install ModemScan. |
| Now copy/overwrite ModemScan.exe in the dir you installed into |
| into with the cracked ModemScan.exe in CRACK.ZIP and go go gadget ;) |
