1.1  3D-Win - General Informationen

Welcome to 3D-Win, Diamond`s 3D-Viewer for Windows NT! 

This software is simple to use and offers a number of attractive features:



- fast "Read-in" of 3D-Models from AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop 

- different Shade-modi (Flat, Gouraud, Phong usw.) per mouseclick

- Display manipulation via Slidebar or mouse

- Dataexport to AutoCAD

- Changes in AutoCAD will diplayed immediately and automaticaly into 

  the 3D-Viewer (Hot-Link)

- Easy generation of WALK-TEACH-or AVI-Animationen

- Materialeditor.

- integrated Toolbar for fast and easy of use.

- Comfortable 3D-Win Online-Help





1.2  System Requirements

--------------------------



(a) Graphic boards

3D-Win supports only the SPEA/Diamond-Graphics boards of the

Fire GL-Serie.



(b) Windows

The current version of this software is for Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 only.



2    Installation und Konfiguration

===================================



2.1  Installation with CD ROM

----------------------------



  1. Run the program "START" from the CD ROM



  2. Select 'Graphic board'



  3. Follow the instructions on the screen. The installation routine will

     decompress and copy various files onto your hard disk.



  4. For more information, please consult the Hardware documentation.





2.2 Installation with Update Disks (for Fire GL)

---------------------------------------------------



  1. Insert Disk 1/2 in your Floppy drive



  2. Open your Filemanager and choose your floppy drive 



  3. Start "Install.exe" with Doppelklick



  4. Choose the language



  5. Choose "Custom"-Installation



  6. Klick on 3D-Win and follow the instructions on the screen. 

     The installation routine will decompress and copy various files 

     onto your hard disk.

Start 3D-Win

-------------

      

    After installation of 3D-Win you will get an application window with 

    the 3D-Win-Symbol. Start 3D-WIN with a doppelklick. All following 

    informations you can take from now on from the Online Help.







3   Troubleshooting and BugFix Information

================================================

3D-Win: Known Restrictions and Bugs



. Problems in 8bit mode (256 Colors)

    The colors will changed in Windows if you start the 3D-Win. Solution 

    now: Configure your system in High-color or true-color. (e.g. 

    2304x780 32768C for Dual-screen, 1280x1024 32768C for Single-screen)



. Pixelproblems and stripes 

    if you resize or move the Viewer window.

    If you click and move the 3D-model inside the 3D-Win, 

    a refresh will clear your viewer background.



· If 3D-Win has no connection to AutoCAD:

    In the normal case, if you start 3D-Win, the program (viewer3d) 

    checks in AutoCAD, if the ARX-Programm is installed correctly.

    If the ARX-Programm is not installed correctly, please look after acad.rx. 

    If yes, please look for the entry of viewer.arx (with "/" instead of "\"), 

    e.g.: c:/dsmedia/_3dwin/viewer3d.arx.

    Please check also if other arx programs are available (e.g. MCAD)



· Please don`t take long Path- and directory-names for your installation.

  (take the old conventions (max. 11 signs)

  e.g. c:\dsmedia\_3dwin				OK

  e.g. c:\Program files\Diamond MM\3DWin		wrong



· If you still not have an connectio  to AutoCAD, restart AutoCAD 

  and 3D-Win or reboot.



· Not all AVI-compressions works fine. Good results by high 

  compression rate has e.g. Cinepak Codec by Radius. 



. All AVI-files runs with the Mediaplayer from Microsoft.



. Multi-Using from AutoCAD and 3D-Win

	3D-Win don`t supports multiple AutoCAD sessions at one time.

	3D-Win is only activ for the first started AutoCAD.
