================================================= | IR-210 to Nokia 6100 series DirectCOMM Driver | ================================================= (1) How to install (1.1) Create a directory in the HDD. (1.2) Copy all of the three files into the same directory. (1.3) You can run the DirectCOMM driver by double click the DirectCOMM icon. (2) What kinds of NoKia phones and PC software can use the IR-210 DirectCOMM driver (2.1) The IR-210 DirectCOMM driver is designed for Nokia 6100 series only. The Nokia 6100 series contain the most popular Nokia Cellular Phones with Infrared Port listed below: Europe/Asia -- 6110(GSM900), 6130(GSM1800), 6150(GSM900 & GSM1800) Basically, the DirectCOMM should work properly on the above models. However, because the availability of the Nokia phone, we tested the 6150 only and this model worked fine with our DirectCOMM driver. (2.2) The DirectCOMM driver can work properly under Nokia Cellular Data Suite 2.0, PC Composer 1.0, and PC Calendar 1.0 (3) How to use Nokia Cellular Data Suite (NCDS) 2.0 with IR-210 DirectCOMM (3.1) According to the specification of Nokia Cellular Data Suite 2.0, it can work with its infrared port only under Windows 95. For Windows 98 or Windows NT, you must use the data cable in the Nokia Data Suite retail package. Follow the installation guide to install the NCDS into your system. After the NCDS is installed, and if your system is Windows 95, run the Infrared Setup in the NCDS application box and setup the Connection as Infrared. (In the NCDS, enter the Tools->Options->Connection to see if setup properly.) (3.2) Disable the Microsoft Infrared Communication Driver by enter the Infrared Monitor-> Options and uncheck the enable option to disable the Microsoft IR Driver. (3.3) Run the IR-210 DirectCOMM before you run the NCDS. There would be a DirectCOMM ICON shown on the Tool Bar, click the ICON and check if the COM port setting is the physical COM port that IR-210 attached. (4) How to use Nokia PC Composer 1.0 with IR-210 DirectCOMM (4.1) The Nokia PC Composer normally comes with the NCDS retail package. The PC Composer use the same connection configuration as the NCDS. Same as NCDS, the PC Composer can work with its infrared port only under Windows 95. (4.2) Disable the Microsoft Infrared Communication Driver by enter the Infrared Monitor-> Options and uncheck the enable option to disable the Microsoft IR Driver. (4.3) Run the IR-210 DirectCOMM before you run the PC Composer. (5) How to use Nokia PC Calendar 1.0 with IR-210 DirectCOMM (5.1) The Nokia PC Calendar is different from the NCDS. The software can use infrared port communication on both Windows 95 and Windows 98. Select Infrared Link Setup during install, you should ignore any "Cellular Phone Not Found" message (5.2) Disable the Microsoft Infrared Communication Driver by enter the Infrared Monitor-> Options and uncheck the enable option to disable the Microsoft IR Driver. (5.3) Run the IR-210 DirectCOMM before you run the PC Calendar. ============================================================================================== (6) If the Nokia Data Cable is missing or you want to use NCDS and PC Composer with Infrared link under Windows 98. ============================================================================================== Important Note: The following method is not a formal installation procedure from Nokia. It is discovered by coincidence. The NCDS and PC Composer can work with Windows 95 ONLY on manufacturer's formal announcement. Anyone who use this procedure should be at his own risk for any incompatibility problem. This installation may not work with newer software version. The workable software versions are NCDS2.0, PC Composer 1.0, PC Calendar 1.0. (6.1) Install the NCDS and PC Composer first. Ignore any "Cellular Phone Not Found" message during the installation. No need to run the "Infrared Setup" of NCDS. In fact, there would be an error when running the "Infrared Setup" and you don't have the Nokia data cable in place. Reboot the system after each installation. (6.2) Install the PC Calendar AFTER the NCDS and PC Composer is installed. Select Infrared Link Setup during install, ignore any "Cellular Phone Not Found" message. Reboot the system after the installation. (6.3) Run the IR-210 DirectCOMM ONLY ONCE before you run any of the NCDS, PC Composer or PC Calendar.
