Office 97 SR-2 Overview
Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2) is a free update to Office 97 that delivers product updates developed since the release of Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1). For a complete list of product updates, read the Knowledge Base article OFF97: List of Fixed Problems in Office 97 for Windows, SR-2.

The latest version of Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 is named "sr2bof97.exe" and is called Office 97 SR-2b. This file contains the SR-2 product updates listed above and the Year 2000 changes made earlier this year to Microsoft Outlook® 97 as mentioned in the Knowledge Base article OL97: Year 2000 Dates Are Imported and Exported Incorrectly and the Year 2000 changes in Microsoft Jet 3.5 as described in the Knowledge Base article Updated Version of Microsoft Jet 3.5 Available on MSL.

What you need to install Office 97 SR-2b
To install Office 97 SR-2b, you must have Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1) or higher installed on your computer. Office 97 SR-1 is currently available for download and is also included on the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD, which can be ordered free of charge. To determine whether Office 97 SR-1 is properly installed on your computer, run the Office 97 Version Checker.

If you have not previously installed Office 97 SR-2, you may download Office 97 SR-2b from the Office 97 Service Release 2b (SR-2b) Download Information page. Office 97 users can also receive the Office 97 SR-2b patch on the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD

IMPORTANT: If you have previously installed Office 97 SR-2, you should only install the following two Year 2000 updates for Outlook and Microsoft Jet 3.5:
