Manufacturer/Support Tradewind Software (818)335-6013 - BBS Support Comit v.168 for DOS: DIP Switches 3, 5, and 8 DOWN(ON) CHANGE PORT: Press the forward slash key ("/") to bring up a menu of options. Next press "S" for "Setups" and "P" for "Port Settings". There are no individual settings for COM and IRQ. They have predefined selections for each, such as COM1/IRQ4 03F8, COM2/IRQ4 02F8, etc. You are also given the option of picking a non standard COM Port and IRQ such as "COM3 IRQ5 03E8, etc. CHANGE IRQ: See Change Port above for setting the IRQ. INIT STRING: Press the forward slash key ("/") to bring up the option menu. Press the letter "I" to go into the initialization string command. There are three U.S. Robotics modems listed, none of which are suitable for high speed communications. To properly configure your modem to make a high speed connection, go down to selection #99 and enter an init string of "AT&F&B1&H1&R2&A3&K3X4". You should now be able to make a high speed connection. TERMINAL MODE: Press the forward slash key ("/") to bring up the option menu, and hit the letter "O" to go on-line. Next, hit the letter "M" for Manual/Terminal Mode. The only way out of terminal mode is to hit the forward slash key ("/"), then "H" for Hang-up. Note: The version that Tradewind ships, or distributes freely, only supports the following file transfer protocols: XModem, Xmodem-CRC, Ymodem, Ymodem-G, and ASCII. It does not support Zmodem. _________________________________________________________________________ Comit v1.16 for Windows: DIP Switches 3, 5, and 8 DOWN(ON) CHANGE PORT: Pull down the "Settings" menu, and select "Port". From this screen, you can change the port settings, baud rate, flow control, and line settings. There is also a checkbox marked "Locked Baud Rate". Make sure you check this box. CHANGE IRQ: This program uses the settings in the Windows Control Panel for the COM Port's IRQ. INIT STRING: Pull down the "Settings" menu, and select "Modem". The init string is near the bottom of the dialog box. Note: The init string can not begin with "AT", since it incorporates this into the dial prefix instead of sending it as a separate command. TERMINAL MODE: This program begins in terminal mode. Additional setup notes: * When selecting your modem, choose "2400 bps data, hardware V.42bis" * The initialization string can not begin with an "AT", for it is added by the software when dialing. If you specify "&F&B1&H1&R2&A3&K3X4S11=40" as your init string, it will dial: AT&F&B1&H1&R2&A3&K3X4S11=40DT {number} * Make sure your port rate is set to 19200 for our 14.4k modems, and 38400 or higher for our faster modems. You also need to make sure that you are using Hardware Flow Control, and Locked Baud Rate.
