Megaphone Installation

1) Insert the U.S. Robotics Connections CD into your CD Rom Drive
2) Double click on the U.S. Robotics  Connections Icon
3) Click once on the Software button
4) Click once on the Megaphone button (picture of the Megaphone manual)
5) Click continue and if you wish you can view the read me notes
6) Click Install (Megaphone will now add the necessary Items to your Hard Drive, if the installation is successful  you will be prompted to restart your computer )
 
Using The Speakerphone

1) Connect your Powered Speakers to the Speaker Input on the back of the Sportster Voice modem
2) Double click on your Macintosh HD 
3) Open your Megaphone Folder and double click on the Megaphone Icon
4) Click on the Dial Pad (or type in the telephone number where you see the flashing cursor)
5) Click on Dial
6) When the other phone answers you can begin speaking clearly into the 


Record Your Own Greeting

1) Go to Control Panel and select Sound
2) Choose Sound IN and click on USR Mic
3) You can record from your Local Handset (recommended) or Modem Microphone
4) Exit Control Panel and Sound
5) Open the Megaphone Folder and click on the Megaphone Icon
6) Click on the Voice Messages Icon (picture of numeric zero’s)
7) Click on Setup 
8) Click on Record (if recording through the Handset you will be prompted to pick the Handset up and click OK, when you hear a beep you can start recording)

Play Back Messages

1) Double click on the Macintosh HD 
2) Open the Megaphone Folder and double click on the Megaphone Icon
3) Click on Voice Messages 
4) Highlight your new messages by clicking on them
5) Click on Play (if you do not highlight the Voice Message, the Play button will remain grayed out)

Troubleshooting

Q. I successfully installed Megaphone but when I try to run the program I get type 10 error
A. You are most likely experiencing an Extension Conflict, and you may want to try turning off some extensions that you are not using,  if running System 7.5 go to your Control Panels and select Extensions Manager, otherwise, turn the extensions off by dragging them into an new Folder (create an new folder and rename it Extensions OFF
Q. When I play back my received messages I can barely hear them
A. Go to Control Panels and select Telephone Setup, increase your volume level to a reasonable number
Q. When I use the Speakerphone, the other caller can barely hear me
A. Go to Control Panels and select Telephone Setup, increase your Speakerphone Mic Gain to 255

Q. When I insert the Connections CD and  try and install megaphone I get error 1008:17,-4
A. You will need to call our Customer Service number 1-847-982-5151 press option 1 to order an newer version of the Software
Q. When using the Speakerphone I find the sound quality is poor or reduced
A. Make sure you are placing  the modem behind the Speakers and not in front
