Release Notes (C) 93000254E for DataFire PRIme Adapter Driver for Windows NT Release v1.4.0 1/12/98 (c) Copyright 1998 by Digi International This document contains the following sections: 1) System Software Requirements 2) Installing the Windows NT Software for the DataFire PRIme ISDN adapter. 3) Known limitations 4) Software Revision History 1) System Software Requirements ============================ This driver requires that your system be running Windows NT 3.51 with Service Pack 5, or later. 2) Installing the Windows NT Software for the DataFire PRIme ISDN adapter. ===================================================================== This procedure is a brief description of the software installation process. For a complete description reference the Installation and Configuration Guide. This procedure assumes that you have already installed the adapter in the computer. The following procedure pertains to both versions 3.51 and 4.0 of Windows NT and each step contains the necessary notation. 1. Insert disk 1 for the appropriate platform (x86, Alpha, or PowerPC) of the DataFire PRIme Device Driver software into a 3.5-inch floppy drive. 2. NT 3.51 - Click the Control Panel icon in the Program Manager to open the Control Panel window. NT 4.0 - Select Start/Settings/Control Panel to open the Control Panel window. 3. Within the Control Panel window, double-click the Network icon: NT 3.51 - and the Network Settings dialog box appears. NT 4.0 - and the Network dialog box appears. Make sure the Adapters tab is currently selected. 4. NT 3.51 - Select Add Adapter . . . and the Add Network Adapter dialog box appears. NT 4.0 - Select Add. . . and the Select Network Adapter dialog box appears. 5. NT 3.51 - From the list of adapters, choose Requires disk from manufacturer, select Continue. NT 4.0 - Select Have Disk. 6. Enter A:\ in the dialog (where A: is your floppy drive designation) and select Continue or OK. 7. Confirm that the adapter is selected and click OK. 8. At this point the system copies the driver files to your server's hard drive and when finished displays the DataFire PRIme Setup Wizard. 9. Select ISDN-PRI on the tree view. Verify that the appropriate switch type is selected. Select any desired additional incoming transfer capabilities, including Unres Digital, and Digital 56. 10. Click OK. 11. At this point the Remote Access (RAS) configuration dialog will appear. Use this dialog to add two DigiCBri ports. Click the "Configure" button to define how the ports will be used. Click Continue. 12. NT 3.51 - Click OK to close the Network Settings dialog box. NT 4.0 - Click Close to close the Network dialog box. 13. Restart your computer. 3) Known limitations ================= There are no known limitations. 4) Software Revision History ========================= 1/12/98 Version 1.4.0 - Problem Report #'s: 5120,5294,5180,5184,5189,5186,5191,5192,5193,5219,5017,5187 - Changes were made to read the correct values out of the registry and send them to the switch. - Grayed out some of the timmers so the user can't select or adjust them. - Made changes to the driver to use RRAS. - Made changes to the driver so the PPP negotiation timing was correct. - The Verifying User Name and Password succeeds and allows RAS or RRAS to connect. - Made changes to the driver so when we upgrade from RAS to RRAS our ports are still available for Dial-In or Dial-Out without reinstalling our drivers. - Made changes to the driver to fix a problem we had with French National switch types. There is a new Switch Type in the pick list labeled French National (No CRC4). This is for the old French National line type. 5/19/97 Version 1.3.0 - Changed to make compatible with Digi Wanlinks Frame Relay and X.25 packages. Added performance increase for received packets when multiple channels are in use Corrected several help menu items for use with the config UI. 3/24/97 Veriosn 1.2.2 - Correct bugs in firmware so that new adapters would be able to function in E1 mode. 3/17/97 Version 1.2.1 - Corrected bug in oemsetup.inf to detect compressed version of digipri.dll. - Used later revision digipri.dll with changes to correct transfer-in-caps bug. This also includes bugs that were later corrected in the CSU/DSU page concerning short haul/long haul and its associated parameter (length/attenution). Also fixed E1 CSU/DSU defaults to include CEPT/HDB3 and inhibited B8ZS in E1 mode. 12/18/96 Version 1.2.0 - Added support for PCI adapters and E1 lines. 9/18/96 Verison 1.0.0 - Initial release
