This document is PN 93001187 Rev D1P Contents Part Description 1 Introduction 2 Installation 3 Further information 4 Release History Part 1: Introduction ==================== ---ISA Adapters ClassicBoard adapters are available with 4, 8 and 16 port panel options. ClassicBoard adapters are shipped with a DOS based configuration utility, which configures ClassicBoard adapters for either Legacy or Plug and Play (PnP) mode. The PnP mode is the default setting and the ClassicBoard Windows driver requires this PnP mode. ClassicBoard adapters use either 16554 Quad Uarts or 16654 Quad Uarts. A Quad Uart is simply 4 Uarts (the serial communications chip) in one. Thus a 16554 Uart can be considered as four 16550 Uarts and a 16654 Uart as four 16650 Uarts. The ClassicBoard adapter allows some enhanced features. ---PCI Adapters ClassicBoard PCI adapters are aviable with 4 and 8 port panel options. Because PCI are inheratly Plug and Play, the DOS based configuration utility is not needed. ClassicBoard PCI adapters use only 16654 Quad Uarts. ---All Adapters This document describes how to install the ClassicBoard adapter.
