If you are experiencing problems with garbage transmissions with Zetafax 
software and the Digi Modem em, the following workaround will apply:

Edit the setup.ini file located in the \zfax\system\z-db directory.

Change the 

SendInit: 

line to 

SendInit:  AT  \Q1

This changes handshaking to XON/XOFF.

This workaround will apply to other modem types as well, however
the AT \Q1 command may vary depending on the modem type.  Check
with the modem manufacturer for the correct string to send to the modem
to change handshaking to XON/XOFF.
