How to Completely Uninstall a Digi PC/Xe, PC/Xi, or AccelePort driver from Windows NT How to Completely Uninstall a Digi PC/Xe, PC/Xi, or AccelePort driver from Windows NT

Note: This article does not specifically apply to the AccelePort RAS, AccelePort Xp, ClassicBoard or PC/x drivers.

1.   Go into Control Panel > Network and highlight the Digi adapter. Select Properties (or Configure for NT 3.51) to view the existing
configuration.  Make a note of these settings. Click Cancel.
2.   Click Remove to remove the Digi adapter.
3.   Close the Network applet. When given the option to restart your system, select Do Not Restart Now.
4.   Go into Windows Explorer (or File Manager for NT 3.51).
5.   Go to the //system32 directory.  Verify that the dgconfig.cnt, dgconfig.dll, and dgconfig.hlp files have been renamed or deleted. If they have not, rename or delete these files.
6.   Go into the /drivers subdirectory of this path. Verify that the digifep5.sys file has been renamed to digifep5.old or deleted. If it has not, rename or delete this file.  Check for the next file based on the adapter type you have (see table below):

Adapter Filename
Acceleport Xe, Xi ntxall.sys, xabios.bin, xacook.bin
PC/Xe, Xi ntxall.sys, xabios.bin, xacook.bin
Acceleport Xem ISA, EISA, MCA ntxem.sys, sxbios.bin, sxfep.bin
Acceleport C/X ISA, EISA, MCA ntcx.sys, cxbios.bin, cxfep.bin

Any Other PCI Digi adapter dgapci.sys, pcibios.bin, pcifep.bin

NOTE: If any of the above files have not been renamed to *.old or deleted, rename or delete the file.

7.   Go into the registry by selecting File > Run and enter REGEDT32.
8.   Go to the /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services path and look for a DIGIFEP5 key.
If this key is present, highlight and delete this key. Check for the next keys based on the adapter type you have (see the table below):

Adapter Filename
Acceleport Xe, Xi NTXALL, NTXALL#
PC/Xe, Xi NTXALL, NTXALL#
Acceleport Xem ISA, EISA, MCA NTXEM, NTXEM#
Acceleport Xr ISA NTXEM, NTXEM#

Any Other PCI Digi adapter DGAPCI, DGAPCI#

NOTE: If any of the above keys are present beneath /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /System/CurrentControlSet/Services, delete these key(s).

9.   Delete the following keys:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/digiboard
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/digi
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version/Network Cards/#
NOTE: Delete only the # which have DGAPCI, XE, XR, XEM or Digi in them.

CAUTION: Careless editing of the registry may have disasterous results and require a complete reinstall of the Windows NT operating
system. If you are not familiar with the NT registry, please contact Digi Tech Support for assistance before proceeding.

10. Reboot the system.

The Digi driver has been completely removed.  Make sure a Network card is present in the system or the Microsoft Loopback adapter is installed.  You must reboot after installing the Network Card or the MS Loopback adapter before installing the DIGI board.  You may now follow the normal installation procedure for the NT driver.
