- What driver should I install for my EtherLite
product under Windows NT?
The latest driver can be downloaded at: http://supportold.digi.com/support/drivers/winnt/index-stsels.html
401899D1.exe: This is the Standard driver for the EtherLite
product under Windows NT.
NOTE: If you are using RealPort, you will need to get a
different driver.
- What firmware version should I install for my
EtherLite product under Windows NT?
The latest firmware can be downloaded at: http://supportold.digi.com/support/firmware/els/index.html
Download the firmware for the specific EtherLite product you have.
NOTE: Make sure you download the firmware for the Standard
driver and NOT RealPort .
- How do I assign an IP address to the EtherLite?
If you do not already have the Storeip32.exe utility, you can
download it from the following link:
http://supportold.digi.com/support/utilities/winnt/. The Filename
is Storeip32.exe.
After connecting the EtherLite to the network (if you need assistance
with this go to: http://supportold.digi.com/support/manuals/combo/els-xxxx-hwin-90033900.pdf)
NOTE: Do not plug the power cable into the EtherLite module at
this time.
A. Run Storeip32.exe and click Next.
B. Choose Store IP and click Next.
C. Enter the MAC Address (last 6 digits). This will be on
a bar code sticker located on the EtherLite.
Click Next.
D. Enter the IP Address of the EtherLite and click Next.
E. Power-cycle the EtherLite and you should
see the message on the output screen change.
F. Go to a command prompt and verify the IP Address has been
assigned by pinging it.
NOTE: There are other ways to assign the IP address, which you

- How do I check the firmware version and
upgrade it?
To upgrade the firmware, you will need the following utilities:
Verlog.exe, BootPS.exe, and TFTPD.exe.
You can download these files at: http://supportold.digi.com/support/utilities/sts_els/.
A. Run Verlog.exe and enter the IP Address of the EtherLite to
verify the firmware version you are currently
running.
NOTE: You will need to make sure
you are running the RealPort firmware, if you are loading the RealPort
driver.
B. Download the proper firmware file and extract it in the same
directory you have downloaded TFTPD.exe in.
C. Before upgrading the firmware, you will need to erase the IP
Address. You can do this, but following the
instructions in step 3, but select
Erase IP rather than store.
D. Open BootPS.exe and go to File, Edit BootPS Response>
E. For the Ethernet Address, enter the EtherLites MAC address.
F. For the Target IP, enter the IP Address you want to assign to
the EtherLite.
G. For the Host IP, enter the IP Address of the machine you are
running TFTPD.exe and BootPS.exe from.
H. For the Bootfile, enter the filename of the firmware (i.e.
4200646A.bin).
I. Open TFTPD.exe
J. Power-cycle the EtherLite.
K. It should say Assigned IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on the BootPS.exe
screen.
L. It should say Transfer Complete! on the TFTPD.exe
screen.
You can rerun Verlog.exe to verify the version of the firmware has now
been updated.a
NOTE: You will also want to rerun StoreIP32.exe to permanently
store the IP Address otherwise it will erase
after reboot because BootPS is temporary.
- How do I install the driver under Windows NT?
Standard Driver:
A. Download the driver as instructed in question number 1
and extract it.
B. Run setup.exe, which is one of the extracted files.
C. Step through the installation wizard.
D. At the EtherLite Installation screen, Click Add.
E. Enter the IP Address of the EtherLite device and select the
Unit Type.
NOTE: For the EL2 232 (pick
EL-2) and the EL2 422 (pick EL-2.2).
F. Continue through the installation wizard.
NOTE: If you get an error that
says it couldn't store wstoreip.exe, you can disregard this and
continue.
G. Finish up the installation and Reboot.
