CABLING NOTE: This configuration requires a straight through EIA-232
serial cable from the Digi device to the Bristol Babcock RTU Slave.
If you are using the Digi supplied cable, a null modem adapter is
required to make the cable straight through.
Configure Digi Device for ModbusTCP using the Digi One IA RealPort :
1. After installing Digi Port Authority Remote, you can run it by
going to Start, Programs, Digi, Digi Port Authority - Remote and select
Digi Port Authority - Remote (see Figure
1).

2. Click on Discover to find
your Digi One IA RealPort. If you are on a DHCP network, you will automatically
obtain an IP Address.
If not, you can assign an IP Address by clicking on Configure
to assign and IP.

3. Once an IP Address is assigned, click on Configure
to launch the web browser and finish the Digi One IA RealPort configuration.
4. Log into the Digi One IA RealPort by entering the
default username: root and password: dbps.

5. Once the browser is launched (notice your Digi One IA RealPort IP
Address in the address field of your internet browser),
you can
finish the Digi One IA RealPort
configuration.
After
logging in select Setup Wizards.
6. Choose Industrial
Protocols.

7. Click Next.

8. In the next window you will want to configure
your port settings. When you are finished, click Next.

9. When prompted to choose the industrial automation
protocol for this port, select Modbus RTU
from the drop down box.
When you are finished,
click Next.

10. When prompted to configure a protocol master or a protocol slave,
select the radio button next to Slave.
When you are finished, click Next.

11. You will get a summary screen of your
selections. If everything looks correct, click Finish.

Configure the Automated Solutions Application:
1. Run the ModbusTCP OPC Server.
2. Add a Channel.
3. Enter the IP Address of the Digi One IA RealPort and click OK.
4. Next, you will need to add a Device.
5. Select the Channel you just created and enter the Device ID of the RTU.
6. From the Address Type drop down box, select Absolute
Zero-Based.
7. Check the box next to Float Word Swap to enable it.

8. When finished, click OK.
9. To continue add a Group next.
10.Finally, add a Tag. Select the register type and register location to
be read from and click OK.
11.Click on Monitor Mode to verify communication has been established.
