Dynamic Short Hold Dynamic Short Hold
Problem:
What is Dynamic Short Hold?
Solution:
An important feature of the Digi router products is the
short hold mode. This function secures a physical disconnect of a
connection after a specified time of inactivity without loosing the logical
connection. This feature reduces the telecommunication costs to the bare
minimum. The physical disconnection follows after a user defined period.
Therefore, this type of short hold mode is called static short hold.
The Digi Router additionally supports an implementation
called dynamic short hold. If in the Partner Configuration the parameter
Short Hold Mode is set to "Dynamic", the router calculates the tariff
evaluating the ISDN cost information elements. Based on these results the
short hold is automatically adjusted. This allows the transpose and
support of complex cost structures.
The basic requirement for the use of the dynamic short
hold is that charge data transmission is received from the carrier during the
established connection. The activation of the charge data information
should be requested from the carrier at the time of installation.
Attention: Some carriers are offering services which are
sending cumulative charge data after the call has been completed. These
services are not suitable for the dynamic short hold functionality. At the
moment only the charge data of the German Telecom is supported.
