Problem:

The driver and firmware installation/update fails. First you choose the socket and the prefered firmware but during the upgrade procedure you get the following error message:

" PCMCIA Card Loader Error - A timeout has occured while waiting for PCMCIA card response " .

Cause:

The reason for this is the Toshiba card and socket service. The autodetect of the card type fails.

Solution:

Deactivate the cards autodetect in the Toshiba socket service:

Start> Programs>Toshiba Utilities> Hardware Setup> Hardware Options> PC Card >

Change the "PC Card Controller Mode" from "Auto-Select" to "PCIP Compatible" .

Now the firmware upgrade shouldn´t be no problem.
