How do you emulate standard COM ports with the ISA Classic board? How do you emulate standard COM ports with the ISA Classic board?

  • Run the Classic CFG utility from a clean DOS boot
  • Select F3 to Edit New Profile
  • Select "No" for PnP Mode
  • Select "Digi" for Control Register Int Mode
  • Select a unique value for the Control Register I/O
  • Select IRQ 3 for the Control Register IRQ
  • Select 3F8 for the port address for Port 1, 2F8 for the port address for Port 2, and unique I/O addresses for all other ports listed
  • Tab over to the IRQ field located next to the I/O Base setting for Port 1
  • Use the arrow keys to select IRQ 4
  • Select F5 to Write New Profile to Board
  • Select F6 to Write New Profile to Disk
  • Select and name the profile you created
  • Select F10 to Exit

    These settings will configure Port 1 on the Classic board as standard COM 1 (3F8, IRQ 4) and Port 2 on the Classic board as standard COM 2 (2F8, IRQ 3)
