MacOS Acceleport USB printer compatibility information. MacOS Acceleport USB printer compatibility information. Serial Printers
The main issue here, as with any printer on the Mac and our products, is simply having the ability to select our port from within the printer driver. Many printer drivers, such as the ones for the popular HP Laserjet series (unless HP has an update to these), are hard coded for certain ports on the system. Other vendors may have a utility which patches these drivers to avoid this limitation, but we currently believe this is an unauthorized modification of someone else's code, and won't do this. Instead, we hope there is an officially supported update either being worked on or already made availabe on the vendors web/FTP site to get around this problem.
Parallel Printers
Our parallel port simply appears as another port to the system, so the same rules apply as above for serial printers, regarding compatibility. The only other note necessary is that our parallel port is simply a standard Centronics style parallel printer port. Most standard parallel printers should work just fine on it.
At this time, and for the forseeable future, Centronics style printers are all that are supported by the parallel port on the Acceleport USB 2. Further, only those printers whose drivers allow one to select an arbitrary port may even be configured for our parallel port.
