How do I install the Acceleport USB drivers on Windows 95/98/ME? How do I install the Acceleport USB drivers on Windows 95/98/ME? Installation of the Acceleport USB should be as simple as plugging the device in and following the window prompts. About the only thing that's a little confusing is that it asks you twice where the drivers are. This is also true of other USB products we've used and tested, so we figure this is just Windows. You'll be asked where the drivers are initially, which is fine, but later when it starts enumerating the actual ports on the unit (as opposed to the unit itself, which is enumerated first), you'll be asked again. No big deal, just point Windows back to the same diskette or directory where you unpacked our driver package and all will be fine.
It's also nice to know that the same drivers support both the 2 and 4 port models, so if you put additional units on the USB interface, no subsequent installation is necessary. You will see the unit and ports enumerate, but you shouldn't have to point the system at any directory or diskette for Windows to complete the job.
Finally, it's notable that the newer 8 port unit does NOT use the same driver as the 2 and 4 port models, so if you add an 8 where you only had 2s and 4s before, or vice versa, you WILL need to point the system at a directory or diskette. The drivers are all shipped by default, it's just that only the needed drivers are copied into Windows when you install a unit.
