WAN Mini-Port is Not Available with the Passive Digi Adapter WAN Mini-Port is Not Available with the Passive Digi Adapter
Problem:
I have a Passive Digi Adapter and cannot establish a
connection with Dialup Networking and Windows 9x, because WAN Mini-Port is not
available when using any of the following: DataFire Micro, DataFire Pico, or
DataFire Columbus Card.
Solution:
-
Check the TELEPHON.INI file, in the Windows
Directory, to see if there is a double entry for WAN.TSP
(one with and one without a complete path):
Bad Telephon.ini:
[Providers]
NumProviders=4
NextProviderID=5
ProviderID0=1
ProviderFilename0=unimdm.tsp
ProviderFilename1=tspvccm.dll
ProviderID1=2
ProviderID2=3
ProviderFilename2=c:\windows\system\wan.tsp
ProviderID3=4
ProviderFilename3=WAN.TSP
Correct Telephon.ini:
[Providers]
NumProviders=3
NextProviderID=4
ProviderID0=1
ProviderFilename0=unimdm.tsp
ProviderFilename1=tspvccm.dll
ProviderID1=2
ProviderID2=3
ProviderFilename2=c:\windows\system\wan.tsp
NOTE: The last two lines are obsolete.
If this doesn't resolve the problem, you may have a
corrupt installation of the Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack. Try
reinstalling it. Remove the Microsoft ISDN Accelerator Pack V1.1 via the
CONTROL PANEL> SOFTWARE> WINDOWS> SETUP> CONNECTIONS> and
install it again using the CD after restarting the system.
For Example:
:/card/disk3/MSISDN11.EXE or
:/card/win95/colum30/disk3/MSISDN11.EXE or
a:/english/MSISDN11.EXE
If you copy files from the Win95 CD-ROM, it will ask you if the file NDIS.VXD
should be kept (default is = YES).
NOTE: It is important that the file be kept.
-
In case you are using the Dial-Up network V 1.2 or
Windows 98, check the driver release of the ISDN card, because the WAN
miniport is only suitable for the Dial-Up network V1.2 from version 2.30(A)
onward.
