Analog Connections Over Fax/Modem Module
Analog Connections Over Fax/Modem Module Analog Connections Over Fax/Modem Module

Problem:

How can the Fax/Modem Module be accessed from a terminal application?

Solution
:

The FM Modules support full fax and modem functionality up to 14400 baud.  In order to use modem functionality
under DOS or Windows it is necessary to load the CAPI FOSSIL driver.  The MS-DOS software interrupt 14h
is activated by the cFos driver for the standard com ports on the system. The application software must use interrupt 14h
as a means of communication.  A direct bi-directional connection via IRQ and com port cannot be handled by the cFos driver.

To use analog modems it is imperative that the B2-protocol has been set to 12 and that the service, as well as the additional
service indicator has been set to 1.  You will also need the following initialization string:

ATS20=12, ATS16=1, ATS17=1, ATS17=1, AT& IA, ATS44=1 for the cFos driver followed by a system reboot.
This way only analog connections will be initialized.

Attention!
In order to use the ix1-basic for analog modem connections, a special driver with modem functionality must be loaded.
