Recovering the PortServer CM Root Password Recovering the PortServer CM Root Password

Process:


  • Connect a terminal to the PortServer CM console port.
  • Power cycle the PortServer CM unit.
  • When you see the following line:
    Linux/PPC load: root=/dev/ram

    Type:

    [Spacebar] single [Enter]

    It will look like the following example:

    Linux/PPC load: root=/dev/ram single

Once the unit completes the boot process into single user mode, you will have access to the unit.

Change the password using the following command:

passwd root

Power cycle the unit once more to boot into multiuser mode.
