TFTP
- Configure a TFTP Server on your LAN (see your operating system documentation tftp configuration).
- Download the latest firmware version and save it on your TFTP Server.
- Have a Terminal connected to the PortServer CM Console Port.
- Power cycle the PortServer CM unit.
- Allow it boot normally, when the memory tests are being performed, press [ESC] three times, once the memory tests are skipped, press [ESC] after "Router ID is XXXXXXXXXXXXXX" line.
- Answer (A)ctive at the ´WatchDog Timer´ prompt.
- Complete the remaining prompts according to the parameters of your system regarding the IP address of the PortServer CM and the TFTP host server, and the firmware filename, etc...
- After the boot is completed, you should have access to the unit.
- Log in to the unit and then proceed with the FTP steps below.
If you don´t have access or the boot is not successful, then there is a problem with the firmware image (corrupted, damaged, etc), you must download it again from our ftp site, and start with TFTP step number 1, again.
FTP
- Download the latest firmware version from our FTP Site onto FTP server.
- BE SURE to set the transfer mode to BINARY (bin).
- On the PortServer CM, change to the /proc/flash directory.
# cd /proc/flash [enter]
- From this directory, ftp to your FTP server.
- BE SURE to set the transfer mode to BINARY (bin).
ftp> bin [enter]
ftp> get zImage.xxx zImage [enter]
- When completed, exit from ftp
- Reboot the PortServer CM unit.
In the case which the unit still does not reboot properly (file corruption, power failure, etc), follow the above steps again.
