How to make Digi Unixware drivers work on OpenUnix 8 Operating Systems How to make Digi Unixware drivers work on OpenUnix 8 Operating Systems In the recent past, the SCO Unixware operating system was purchased by Caldera International Inc. Caldera has since changed the name of this operating system to OpenUnix 8 (OU8).
Since our drivers were designed for the Unixware operating system, there is an incompatability issue when attempting to install our drivers in OU8. This is due to the fact that we do a check of the environment we're installing into, and that this environment no longer identifies as Unixware.
Caldera has published a Technical Article discussing the issue of OS/driver incompatability, as well as a workaround to get software packages designed for Unixware to work in the OpenUnix 8 operating system.
This workaround has resolved at least one customer's driver incompatability issue at the time of this writing. We do not guarantee or support our drivers in this environment since they are not designed for it, but offer this as a possible workaround for customers attempting to install our designed-for-Unixware drivers in an OpenUnix 8 environment. Do this at your own discretion.
This article can be found on the Caldera website, reference article #114264.
