Error "The port could not be set to the specified IRQ" while accessing the ports of my Digi ISA adapter in Windows 95 or 98.
Error "The port could not be set to the specified IRQ" while accessing the ports of my Digi ISA adapter in Windows 95 or 98. Error "The port could not be set to the specified IRQ" while accessing the ports of my Digi ISA adapter in Windows 95 or 98.

Symptom:

When trying to access a port, Windows returns the error "The port could not be set to the specified IRQ".

Cause:

Verify that the IRQ chosen does not conflict with any other devices in your system.

Solutions:

In your system's BIOS, check that the IRQ you have selected for the driver has been reserved to "legacy ISA". If you still encounter an error, an alternative solution is to use configure the Digi ISA adapter driver to not use an IRQ. It is not necessary to set an IRQ for your Digi ISA adapter. To disable the IRQ setting within the Windows 95 or 98 device driver, open the Resources tab within the adapter properties in the Device Manager (Control Panel/System/Device Manager). The configuration drop-down menu should say "Basic Configuration 0". Select "Basic Configuration 1" from the drop-down menu and press OK. Verify that the IO port address and memory address are still correct. Close the Device Manager and restart Windows.
