This is a how-to list for upgrading firmware in various operating systems.
The method of upgrading the firmware is basically the same no matter which operating system you use, only the home directory and firmware filename in that home directory will vary.
These firmware instructions are applicable only to upgrading firmware in the Digi RAS drivers, when used with the Acceleport or Datafire RAS cards.
Linux:
1. Move existing /usr/lib/dg/dgdm/hlcf.bin to /usr/lib/dg/dgdm/hlcf.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to /usr/lib/dg/dgdm/hlcf.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
SCO:
1. Move existing /etc/hou2fep.bin to /etc/hou2fep.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to /etc/hou2fep.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
Unixware:
1. Move existing /etc/inst/nd/mdi/dxdb/firmware.o to /etc/inst/nd/mdi/dxdb/firmware.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to /etc/inst/nd/mdi/dxdb/firmware.o
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
Solaris:
1. Move existing /opt/DIGIras/firmware/hou2fep.bin to /opt/DIGIras/firmware/hou2fep.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to /opt/DIGIras/firmware/hou2fep.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
AIX:
1. Move existing /etc/microcode/hlcf.bin to /etc/microcode/hlcf.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to /etc/microcode/hlcf.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
HPUX:
1. Move existing /usr/conf/digi/dgdxb/fep/hlcf.bin to /usr/conf/digi/dgdxb/fep/hlcf.old
2. Copy the attached file to /usr/conf/digi/dgdxb/fep/hlcf.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
Windows NT/2000:
1. Move existing %windir%\system32\drivers\FepDense.bin to %windir%\system32\drivers\FepDense.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to %windir%\system32\drivers\FepDense.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
Novell:
1. Move existing sys:\system\digiintl\hlcf.bin to sys:\system\digiintl\hlcf.old
2. Copy the new firmware file to sys:\system\digiintl\hlcf.bin
3. Reboot the server to load the new firmware.
(hlcf.bin might be named dfapras.bin depending on driver revison)
