What type of devices are supported by the parallel port on the legacy AccelePort USB product? What type of devices are supported by the parallel port on the legacy AccelePort USB product?
Printers are the only type of parallel port devices supported by the legacy Acceleport USB products. Printers with Windows drivers on the Windows 95/98 CD ROM are practically guaranteed to work just fine, but those drivers may be missing many features included with drivers shipped with the printers. The working drivers are available in various directories depending on the version of Windows 95/98 CD ROM. The location varies, so check the CD ROM. Most of the drivers shipped with the printers, however, have extended functionality and insist on only talking directly to the chips on the motherboard. This means they will not work with any device such as ours. This is why Epson, for example, ships a different driver package with their own USB-Parallel adapter cable.
If you run into any trouble using any kind of device (especially parallel devices) under '98, make sure you're running the latest driver, written specifically for '98 if possible. If you are still having problems, it could be the vendor's driver will simply not support non standard printer ports.
