Configuring a TTY Device for a Terminal Using NonRealPort EtherLite Driver Configuring a TTY Device for a Terminal Using NonRealPort EtherLite Driver

Use this procedure to configure a terminal on a EtherLite or SCSI Terminal Server port. See your operating system documentation for more information on configuring a serial device for a terminal.

Prerequisite: A TTY has been created for the terminal.

Procedure

  1. At an AIX root prompt, enter this command:

    smit els (for EtherLite modules) or

    smit sts (for SCSI Terminal Server units)

  2. Choose TTY.
  3. Choose Add TTY.
  4. Choose an appropriate .sts  or .els entry.
  5. Choose an EtherLite or SCSI Terminal Server unit.
  6. Choose a port.
  7. Set Enable LOGIN to enable.
  8. Set BAUD rate to match the terminal's baud rate.
  9. Set PARITY, BITS per character, and Number of STOP BITS to match the terminal's settings.
  10. Set TERMINAL type to match the type of terminal on the port.
  11. Set FLOW CONTROL to match the flow control used by the terminal
  12. If DCD is not physically wired high in your cable, set Force Carrier to enable.
  13. The Terminal has been configured. Exit smit.
