Portserver II's and frame vs. non-frame firmware FAQ
Portserver II's and frame vs. non-frame firmware FAQ Portserver II's and frame vs. non-frame firmware FAQ

Q: How can I tell if my Portserver II has a frame or non-frame version of firmware loaded?

A: Login as root, then issue command "set ?". If "framerelay" is listed as one of the options, you have a Frame-supported firmware version loaded. If this option is not listed, your firmware does not support frame relay.

Q: How do I know if my Portserver II can use the frame relay version of firmware or not?

A: Whether or not a Portserver II can use the frame-relay versions of the 3.0.x, or 3.1.1 and later firmware is based on the version of the Portserver II hardware itself. 4 megs or more of installed RAM on the Portserver II is a requirment as well.

The revision number can be located next to the part number (50000309) on the underside of the Portserver II unit.

Revision K or lower - Highest version of firmware useable is 3.0.12, non-frame versions only.

Revision L or higher - Frame versions of 3.0.x, and all 3.1.x versions of firmware can be loaded, provided 4 Megs of RAM or more are installed on the Portserver II.

50000309-## of any revision - Frame versions of 3.0.x, and all 3.1.x versions of firmware can be loaded, provided 4 Megs of RAM or more are installed on the Portserver II.
