Several DataFire Basic ISA Adapters in One System
Problem
How do you install several DataFire Basic ISA adapters in one system?
Solution
- The installation in an ISA computer:
In order to use several DataFire Basic ISA
adapters in
one system, the adapters must all be set to a different
adapter or controller number. This is done with the
jumpers j3 and j4 in the following way:
| Card |
Jumper 3 |
Jumper 4 |
| Adapter1/Controller0 |
X |
X |
| Adapter2/Controller1 |
|
X |
| Adapter3/Controller2 |
X |
|
| Adapter4/Controller3 |
|
|
NOTE: (X= jumper closed)
- The installation in an EISA computer:
In an EISA system all
adapters are set to adapter 1 (= factory
default), because the controllers are managed by the EISA
system.
NOTE: An adapter without any jumpers or a DataFire PCI card is always set to adapter 1.
