Galvanically isolated is a term used to describe the relation between two different points in a circuit.
In the case of the Digi One IA Realport, "galvanically isolated from earth ground" means that the async signal ground is isolated from earth ground, by virtue of the DC power supply.
Using this product in a powered ethernet environment is galvanically isolated from earth ground as well.
