From Xterm session:

# printtool

Select: New -> Forward

Type a queue name and select Local Printer.

Select: -> Forward -> Custom Device

Type appropriate device: /dev/tty###

Select: -> Forward

Select a printer driver within your printer model in the drop down.

Select: -> Forward -> Apply

Next restart the lpd services and try printing a test page using the menu options in printtool.
