Portassist Manager Installation in SCO OpenServer 5.0.6
Portassist Manager Installation in SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 Portassist Manager Installation in SCO OpenServer 5.0.6

Here are the steps taken in-house installing Portassist Manager on SCO OpenServer version 5.0.6.

Installing the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) package

Older SCO versions may require the compatibility module to be installed as a prerequisite, this can be determined by typing 'pkginfo -l OSRcompat' from the UNIX root prompt. If nothing is returned, you can download the "Binary Compatibility Module 7.1.1 for SCO OpenServer (for UDK Compatibility)" from the same download location on SCO's web-site:

http://wdb1.caldera.com/clbk_web/owa/dwn_customer

Download the following JRE version from SCO's web site:

Java Runtime Environment, Release 1.2.2 (j2R1.2.2 JRE)

Installing the JRE. From the SCO UNIX root prompt:

# mv java2jre2.pkg.Z /tmp
# cd /tmp
# uncompress java2jre2.pkg.Z
# pkgadd -d /tmp/java2jre2.pkg

Installing Portassist Manager

Download our latest Port Assist Manager package to your UNIX host (binary mode):

http://supportold.digi.com/support/utilitites/portassist

# tar xvf (filename)
# chmod 777 setup
# ./setup

Choose which Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to use and then Enter. You will be prompted for this.

Note: If the installation program cannot find a supported JVM, you may enter the path to this software as a command-line argument. For example, you can enter on the command line:

# ./setup /jrepath/bin/java

Follow the prompts for installation.

Next start the agent on your server:

# /etc/inst/nd/mdi/dgdxb/agent 2362 &

Configuring Port Assist Manager:

Use a supported web browser to point to your server:

http://system_name:http_port_number

Port number 8080 is the default.

The remaining configuration is done through a graphical interface. Configure user(s) and or systems to monitor. Click on the desired systems to view installed products and related status/activity.
