Unable to get a Device to Work on COM3 of the Digi Adapter using Windows 2000
Unable to get a Device to Work on COM3 of the Digi Adapter using Windows 2000 Unable to get a Device to Work on COM3 of the Digi Adapter using Windows 2000

Symptom:

I have a Digi AccelePort adapter installed in a Microsoft Windows 2000 PC with the most recent patches.  However, it doesn't seem to be working.  I can connect my external devices on COM1 and it communicates, but not on the Digi Port #1 (COM3).

Cause:

If it is only COM3 that is having the problem, but the other COM Ports on the Digi AccelePort work, you are most likely running into a conflict against your on board COM Port #1 which shares an IRQ with COM3.

COM1 3F8h IRQ4
COM2 2F8h IRQ3
COM3 3E8h IRQ4
COM4 2E8h IRQ3

Solution:

You should be able to go into the properties of the adapter from Device Manager and select Port #1 (COM3).
Select Properties and renumber the com port to an available COM number.

PLease note that the above information applies to most Digi adapters but not all. As new drivers are released, additional adapters will implement this feature.
