Uploading a CPCONF via a Windows TFTP Server

How to upload a configuration file into a PortServer (II or TS)

How to upload a configuration file into a new or completely reset PortServerII.  In a Windows environment

The Digi Terminal servers have the ability to store their configuration in a text file format.  This allows easy access to the configuration for back up, editing, and duplication purposes.  To download the current configuration file used one of the following processes.

In Windows NT/9x:

ftp://ftp.digi.com/support/techsupport/hardware/portserver/how_to_copy_the_portserver.htm

In Windows 2000/XP:

ftp://ftp.digi.com/support/techsupport/hardware/portserver/how_to_copy_the_portserver2000.htm

To upload the file to a PortServerII you will need the following application:

http://ftp.digi.com/support/utilities/sts_els/tftpd.exe

Once you have downloaded this utility, place it in the same directory that the config file is located in.  Start the application from there.  It will open this small window.

Now connect to the PortServerII at ip address 10.1.4.93 via telnet as shown below:

In the telnet session log in as root and execute the command

cpconf fromhost

As shown here a cpconf from the Windows machine at IP 10.1.4.108 using the file ps2.cfg:

When the transfer is complete the TFTP.exe window should look like this:
