Settings for Windows 95 SPX operation

Problem

With the Columbus Client (former ix1-connect/WS) and the Novell 32bit Client it is not possible to use SPX connections. For example a Remote Console cannot be started over the ISDN line.

Reason

The problem is an objectionable and wrong selection or assignment of the primary board by the IPX protocol. The primary board refers to a logical board from the network configuration of Windows 95 and serves applications that are capable of maintaining only one connection to the network. Thus concerning, e.g. all 16 Bit IPX and SPX applications.

Solution

  1. Go to "Control Panel" - "Network" and here to the "Advanced IPX" Panel from the "IPX 32 bit protocol for Novell NetWare".
  2. Activate the "Primary Logical Board" and enter as Frametype "Ethernet II".
