Installing the Driver: Downloaded

Use this procedure to install a driver downloaded from the Digi web site for Microsoft Windows '95, '98, or Me. 

Note: In some of the following steps, the functions of the three operating systems will be the same, but wording and screen order might differ. 

The two procedures for installing adapter cards on Windows '95, '98, and Me are:

Procedure: PCI Adapters

  1. Start Windows. 
    Windows will auto-detect the adapter and start the installation wizard automatically. You  now need to select the driver.
  2. Choose Specify the location of the driver > Next > Specify a location... > Browse. 
  3. Browse to the folder where you extracted the driver files, and choose OK. 
    A Digi Properties screen will appear with the Port Configuration tab displayed. The adapter board will be identified. 
  4. Select Add Module. 
    The Select Concentrator screen appears. 
  5. Select the correct concentrator and choose Ok. 
    The Ports Configuration properties page appears. 
  6. Double-click the Digi adapter. 
    A listing of ports or modems appears. 
  7. Choose Apply > OK > Finish. 
    Installation is complete.
  8. Restart Windows '95 and '98 to activate the driver. 
    The Millennium Edition does not require restarting. 

Procedure: ISA Adapters

  1. Start Windows. 
    From the Start menu, choose Control Panel > Add New Hardware > Next > Next. 
    Windows performs a search and displays a screen with uninstalled Plug and Play devices. The Digi adapter card will not appear. 
  2. At the Add New Hardware Wizard screen choose No, the device isn't in the list > Next. 
    Another screen appears requesting to perform a search. 
  3. Choose No, I want to select the hardware from a list > Next. 
    A list of hardware devices appear.
  4. Choose Digi adapters > Next > select Have Disk > choose Browse. 
  5. Browse to the folder where the  extracted files are located. 
  6. Choose OK. 
    A list of Digi adapter choices will appear. 
  7. Select your adapter from the list and choose Next. 
    Windows will display your hardware settings with an option to Print. Print or record the resource settings if you are going to change the adapter switches. 
  8. Select Next. The driver files will be copied to your system. The Ports Configuration property page will be displayed. 
  9. Choose Add Module > the Digi adapter > OK. 
  10. Double-click to display the assigned communication port numbers. The communication port numbers have already been assigned. 
  11. Choose Apply > OK > Finish. 
    A System Settings Change applet appears asking whether you want to shut down your computer. 
  12. Choose Yes. 
    Note: This applet does not appear on Windows Me.
  13. Turn off your computer and, if necessary, change the switches on the adapter to match the resource settings you gathered in step 9.
