Use this procedure to configure the installed driver for a C/X or EPC/X host adapter.
Digi's driver files must be installed in the correct directory of the server.
If you have an ISA host adapter, you must know the I/O port address of the adapter. This value is selected using the DIP switch on the adapter.
Run the Digi configuration utility by entering the load command for your host adapter at the system prompt:
| C/X | load aiocxcfg
|
| EPC/X | load aioepcfg |
From the list of configuration options, choose Add Board. This selection walks you through the setup options available for the C/X or EPC/X system. You must select the following:
I/O port (ISA only)
Memory address (ISA only)
Cabling parameters of the cable used between the adapter and the first concentrator for each of the two lines on the C/X host adapter:
-- Type of wiring, 4 or 8 wire
-- Tx clock, Internal or External
-- Line speed
-- Modem type, EIA-232 or EIA-422, (can be changed only if External Tx clock is selected)
Number of concentrators
Line speed of the cable used between each of the concentrators
Type of each concentrator
Number of ports on each concentrator
Board name
If you have a concentrator with 10-pin RJ-45 connectors for peripheral cabling and you wish to use cables with 8-pin plugs, you must specify Altpin alternate wiring for the ports to be used with 8-pin connectors. The Altpin option moves the Data Carrier Detect (DCD) signal from pin 10 to pin 2 (which corresponds to pin 1 of an 8-pin connector).
Important! Use Altpin only for ports equipped with 10-pin RJ-45 connectors.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each host adapter you have installed.
Choose Exit from the Available Options menu and save your changes.
Load the driver. To automatically load the Digi driver each time the system comes up, add one of the following lines to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file:
| ISA Adapter | PCI Adapter | |
| C/X | load aiodgcx |
load aiodgcxp |
| EPC/X | load aiodgepc |
load aiodgepc |
To load the driver, enter the appropriate line shown above at the system command prompt. If the driver has loaded successfully, the front panel of the concentrators should display AC.
Once the driver is loaded, you can enable the ports for use in NetWare Connect. To do this, type the following at the command prompt:
load nwccon
NetWare Connect allows you to set up ports to be recognized by users on the server. In general, do the following:
Go to the Configure NetWare Connect main menu option and select Ports. You should see a list of available ports that corresponds to the number of ports on the concentrators.
Change the name of the ports and set up the type of modems attached to the ports.
Go to the View NetWare Connect Status main menu option and choose Display Port Status when you want to see status.
