Troubleshooting Tips
Use these troubleshooting tips if you should have problems with
your installation:
- An error report is logged if a problem is encountered while
initializing the device. These errors can be viewed using the Event
Viewer, EVENTVWR.EXE.
- Use the program WINMSD.EXE to determine the hardware resources
allocated to each device. If a ClassicBoard device fails to
initialize, no resources are allocated for that device.
- Use the Digi Port Authority (DPA) for Windows application to
test and monitor all serial ports configured in your system. DPA
displays specific information for supported Digi adapters. You can
download DPA from the Digi Support Web site (http://supportold.digi.com). Use it to
verify that the ports can transmit and receive, either on a single
port with a loopback adapter, or between two ports with a null
modem cable.
- Use the Digi Neo and ClassicBoard PCI Diagnostics program to
test adapter hardware functions if you suspect a hardware problem.
You can download the diagnostics program from the Digi Support Web
site (http://supportold.digi.com). See the
release notes for information about using the program.
- When performing baud mapping, your application will not be
aware that the serial ports are operating at a different baud rate
than the selected rate. Large differences between the To and the
From values may cause problems in your applications. If you are
experiencing problems with baud mapping, try to choose To and From
values that are as close as possible. For example, mapping from
115.2k to 460.8k will likely cause fewer problems than mapping from
14.4k to 460.8k.
