Installing the Driver: Downloaded

Use this procedure to install a Digi HP-UX device driver after downloading it.

Note: This is an example of an installation of the driver on HP-UX. Your installation steps may vary depending on your version of HP-UX. Consult your HP-UX documentation for information on installing software packages.

Procedure

1. Log onto the console as root.

2. Copy the driver tar file to /tmp by using ftp.

3. Extract the files from the tar file with this command:

   tar xvf filename.tar

   where filename.tar is the name of the downloaded tar file.

4. Now register the installation package with the system by entering the following command:

   swreg -l depot /tmp/dgdxb.pkg

5. Use the swinstall program to install the registered installation package by entering this command:

   /usr/sbin/swinstall -s /tmp/dgdxb.pkg

6. Choose the DGDXB line item.

7. Choose Actions > Mark for Install.

8. Choose Actions > Install (analysis)... 

   The Install Analysis window appears.

9. Choose OK to proceed.

10. Confirm the prompts that follow.

    Upon successful completion, swinstall will reboot your system.
