Installing the Driver: Downloaded

Use this procedure to install a device driver that you have downloaded from the Digi Support web or ftp site.

Prerequisite

You should already have downloaded and saved the self-installing shell archive containing the device driver.

Procedure

  1. Log in as root (or superuser).
  2. Copy the self-installing shell archive to the following directory (create the directory if it does not already exist):

    mkdir /usr/sts

  3. Make /usr/sts your working directory. Enter:

    cd /usr/sts

  4. Enter the following command:

    sh filename

    where filename is the name of the archive, for example, 4001953E.sis.

  5. Follow the prompts.
  6. Reboot the system, if necessary, after completing this portion of the installation procedure.
  7. Again change to the working directory. Enter:

    cd /usr/sts

  8. To install the driver enter:

    ./Install

  9. Follow the prompts.
