Configuring the Driver

Use this procedure for Microsoft Windows 2000 to access the ClassicBoard Setup window if it is not already displayed.

Procedure 

  1. From the Control Panel, choose System > Hardware > Device Manager > Multiport serial adapters.
  2. Choose the ClassicBoard adapter you wish to configure.
  3. Choose Action > Properties.

    The ClassicBoard Properties page appears.

  4. Choose Advanced.

Configuration Options

You can access two configuration options through the Advanced tab on the ClassicBoard Properties page: port names and FIFO buffer settings. The FIFO settings are advanced features that do not normally need to be changed. Choose Help on each option’s configuration window for more information.

Port Name Configuration

The port name (COM number) assigned to each ClassicBoard port must be unique throughout the system. The device driver automatically assigns COM numbers to ClassicBoard ports based on the serial ports already defined in the Windows 2000 system configuration. On the Advanced properties page you can do the following:

FIFO Buffer Settings

Choose FIFO Settings on the Advanced properties page to access the FIFO Settings window. Choose Help for information about the FIFO buffer settings. Use the following procedure to change the FIFO settings for each port:

  1. From the list of ClassicBoard ports, select the port you wish to change.
  2. Change the FIFO settings as follows:
  3. To restore the default trigger levels, choose Defaults.
