Installing SCSI Terminal Server Units

Use this procedure to connect and configure SCSI Terminal Servers after installing the Windows NT device driver.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Shut down Windows and turn off your computer.
  2. Configure your SCSI Terminal Server for an unused SCSI ID number by following the instructions in the SCSI Terminal Server Installation Guide.
  3. Connect the SCSI Terminal Server to the SCSI bus.
  4. If the SCSI Terminal Server is the last device on the SCSI bus, set the termination switch to the UP position. See the hardware Installation Guide for details.

IMPORTANT: If you are adding the SCSI Terminal Server to an existing chain of SCSI devices, be sure to turn off termination for the device that was previously at the end of the chain (see the documentation for that device for instruction on how to do this), or the SCSI Terminal Server will not be recognized.

  5. Turn on your computer and start Windows.
  6. From the Start Menu, choose Programs > Digi International Port Server > Setup.
  7. Follow the prompts until you get to a window called, Installed SCSI Units.
  8. Find your SCSI adapter in the displayed list. The list of attached SCSI devices should now show your SCSI Terminal Server.
  9. Choose Next, and follow the prompts to complete the installation. When you restart your computer, the SCSI Terminal Server will be installed and ready to use.
