Master Setup Process

Use this process to install and configure the Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me device driver for Digi adapters.

1. Install the adapter. See the appropriate hardware installation card for information.
2. If you are upgrading a previously installed Digi device driver, remove that driver from the system by doing one of the following:
   • If you have installed a Windows driver, uninstall the driver. See Uninstalling the Driver.
   • If you have installed an MS-DOS driver for Digi intelligent asynchronous communications adapters, look in your CONFIG.SYS file for the following line:

     DEVICE=C:\DIGI\XIDOS5.SYS

     If present, either delete it, or disable it by inserting REM (for "remark") at the beginning of the line. 

3. Install the device driver. See: Installing the Driver. 
4. The Configuration Wizard assigns hardware resources automatically. If you are installing an ISA adapter, do one of the following to modify assigned hardware resources:
   • Shut down the computer and set the adapter's DIP switches according to the resources assigned.
   • Edit the assigned resources via the Control Panel. See: Editing Assigned Hardware Resources.
5. If you wish to change the default port configurations, you can do this now. See: Editing Port Configurations. 
   Note: In most cases, this is unnecessary since port configuration is usually handled by communications applications anyway.
