Configuring and Loading the Driver: C/X and EPC/X

Use this procedure to configure the installed driver for a C/X or EPC/X host adapter.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Run the Digi configuration utility by entering the load command for your host adapter at the system prompt:
    C/X load aiocxcfg
    EPC/X load aioepcfg

  2. From the list of configuration options, choose Add Board. This selection walks you through the setup options available for the C/X or EPC/X system. You must select the following:

  3. If you have a concentrator with 10-pin RJ-45 connectors for peripheral cabling and you wish to use cables with 8-pin plugs, you must specify Altpin alternate wiring for the ports to be used with 8-pin connectors. The Altpin option moves the Data Carrier Detect (DCD) signal from pin 10 to pin 2 (which corresponds to pin 1 of an 8-pin connector).

    1. From the Available Options menu, choose Set Altpin Option.
    2. Through a series of screens, select the concentrator that needs to use alternate wiring.

Important! Use Altpin only for ports equipped with 10-pin RJ-45 connectors.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each host adapter you have installed.

  5. Choose Exit from the Available Options menu and save your changes.

  6. Load the driver. To automatically load the Digi driver each time the system comes up, add one of the following lines to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file:
      ISA Adapter PCI Adapter
    C/X load aiodgcx load aiodgcxp
    EPC/X load aiodgepc load aiodgepc

To load the driver, enter the appropriate line shown above at the system command prompt. If the driver has loaded successfully, the front panel of the concentrators should display AC.

  7. Once the driver is loaded, you can enable the ports for use in NetWare Connect. To do this, type the following at the command prompt:

    load nwccon

NetWare Connect allows you to set up ports to be recognized by users on the server. In general, do the following:
