Installing the Driver: Downloaded

Use this procedure to install a downloaded Digi SCO OpenServer driver.

Procedure

  1. Download the appropriate driver package files from Digi's web site. The files are named 401019??.bin and 401383??.bin (the ?? represents the revision letters), and are described as "MPI Driver version_ number Disk 1 of 2" and "MPI Driver version_ number Disk 2 of 2".
  2. On the SCO OpenServer system, Log in as root.
  3. Create a directory /digi (if it does not already exist).
  4. Enter the following commands to move the downloaded files to /digi, renaming them with volume numbers:

    mv 401019??.bin /digi/VOL.000.000
    mv 401383??.bin /digi/VOL.001.000
    chmod 644 /digi/VOL.*

  5. Run custom.
  6. Choose Software > Install New > From This Host > Install from Media Image. Specify /digi when prompted for the location of the media image files.

This step installs MPI, a menu-driven program which installs the drivers and provides administrative and troubleshooting functions.

  7. Run MPI to actually install the drivers.

At the UNIX command prompt, enter:

    mpi

The MPI program has help screens that describe in detail how to use the program and drivers. To access the help, press the F1 key.
