System Requirements

Use this information to determine if the Digi Linux driver is supported by your Linux version and Linux kernel version. Before making this determination, make sure you are installing the latest version of the Digi Linux ClassicBoard PCI driver.  You can find the most current version of the driver on the Digi Internet and ftp sites. These sites are: www.digi.com and ftp.digi.com.

Linux and Linux Kernel

Refer to the driver release notes for potential information regarding driver support for versions of Linux and Linux kernels.

RedHat 7.0 Requirement

In RedHat Linux 7.0 the kgcc RPM package must be installed before you attempt to install the Digi driver. Digi does not support configurations where the kgcc package has not been installed prior to installing the Digi driver.

The reason for this requirement is that the default compiler, gcc 2.96, is known to have problems.  If the kgcc RPM package is not installed before you install the Digi driver, the driver will be compiled with the gcc 2.96 compiler. If the driver is installed in this manner, your system may not operate reliably and it may even crash.
