Installing the Driver: Downloaded

Use this procedure to install a device driver that you have downloaded from the Digi Support web or ftp site.

Prerequisite

You should already have downloaded the src.rpm package containing the device driver, and the Universal Linux Installation shell script, install.sh.

Procedure

1. Log in as root (or superuser).
2. Create a directory for the files.  Enter:

   mkdir /digi

3. Download the driver files to the directory just created.
4. Make /digi your working directory. Enter:

   cd /digi

5. Enter the following command:

   ./install.sh (versionname).src.rpm

   Where versionname is the name of the Digi rpm driver. An example is: 4002090B.src.rpm

6. Enter the command:

   /usr/src/dg/els/drv/linux/define_etherlites

   This command will load the driver, build the module database, and start the cdtherd daemons.

7. Follow the prompts in the install program.
8. To load and start the driver on every reboot enter:

   chkconfig --add els
