Configuring a TTY Device for a Terminal
Use this procedure to configure a terminal on a EtherLite or
SCSI Terminal Server port. See your operating system documentation
for more information on configuring a serial device for a
terminal.
Prerequisite: A TTY has been created for the
terminal.
Procedure
- At an AIX root prompt, enter this command:
smit els (for
EtherLite modules) or
smit sts (for SCSI
Terminal Server units)
- Choose TTY.
- Choose Add TTY.
- Choose an appropriate .sts or .els entry.
- Choose an EtherLite or SCSI Terminal Server unit.
- Choose a port.
- Set Enable LOGIN to enable.
- Set BAUD rate to match the terminal's baud rate.
- Set PARITY, BITS per character, and Number of STOP BITS to
match the terminal's settings.
- Set TERMINAL type to match the type of terminal on the
port.
- Set FLOW CONTROL to match the flow control used by the
terminal
- If DCD is not physically wired high in your cable, set Force
Carrier to enable.
- The Terminal has been configured. Exit smit.
