Configuring the Driver: Modems

Use this procedure to configure a Digi adapter for 56 Kbps modems.

Prerequisites

You should have loaded niascfg or nwconn.

Note: You should configure ISDN ports first if you are setting up dial-in access for ISDN and modems.

Procedure

  1. From the NIAS Options menu choose Configure NIAS > Remote Access > Set Up... .
  2. Choose Add a Serial Adapter Board and press Enter to let NIAS help load AIO drivers.
  3. From the list of drivers choose Digi International AccelePort Xp, AccelePort RAS, and DataFire RAS. This will bring up a Board Configuration menu. 
  4. Fill in board specifics: for DataFire RAS and AccelePort RAS fill in board name and press Enter > choose type of board.

    Note: It is important that the order for adding each board matches the order of the boards specified by the dgrascfg.nlm utility when there are different types of boards.

  5. Choose ESC > Yes to save changes.

    The next screen asks if you want to add more AIO drivers, choose No.

  6. NIAS will attempt to determine which ports have modems, press Enter. NIAS will attempt to determine which ports have modems attached.
  7. A Select Action menu appears, choose Continue with Automated Setup > choose No when NIAS asks to determine modem types automatically.
  8. Choose Yes if you are installing a DataFire or AccelePort RAS adapter. If you are installing an AccelePort Xp adapter your response depends on the the number and type of modems you have attached to your adapter.
  9. If you choose Yes in step #8, a modem list appears > choose Rockwell Compatible 56k.
  10. After selecting the modem, your installation process is complete. Repeatedly choose ESC to save your configuration and to exit NIAS.
